What is luxury vinyl flooring?

A durable, waterproof flooring, luxury vinyl (LVF) has the look of hardwood, stone, or tile without a hefty price tag. It's made up of multiple layers that work together to support the product's design, durability, and ease of maintenance. High-end style combined with countless functional abilities makes this highly sought-after product that is now considered a trend, giving you the most value for your decorating dollar.

Waterproof durability

It is entirely impervious to liquid from bottom to top, meaning that it can be submerged, as in an appliance flood, or spilled on. Just wipe it, and it will be fine, making it ideal for wet areas like the kitchen or bath, especially where a wood-look might be desired. While vinyl itself is strong, the luxury version is thicker and comes with a top clear melamine coating to protect the floor from scratches and scuffs.

Affordable style

While waterproofing makes it ideal for wet spaces, the high-end design makes it suitable for every room in the house, including living areas and bedrooms. Images are digitally taken, so they're clear and vibrant with knots, grains, swirls, veining variations, and brilliant colors and patterns. Micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured looks, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed.

Sometimes referred to as LVP, it can be cut and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood, also referred to as luxury vinyl plank. Alternatively, it can also be called LVT, cut into groutable squares to echo stone or tile, called luxury vinyl tile.

A daily sweeping and periodic mopping is all it needs for care. Installation can also be fast and uncomplicated, especially when it's a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and hover over a clean, dry and level subfloor without nails or glue.
